ABOUT the sixth form
In the Sixth Form students are treated as young adults and can expect to enjoy friendly, close working relationships with dedicated and well-qualified teachers. Alongside preparing students for higher education by encouraging them to take responsibility for their own learning, we prioritise individual personal progress and place great value on regular discussion with subject teachers, tutors and a careers adviser.
Our Sixth Form numbers between seventy five and ninety students, of which approximately a quarter join from other schools directly into Year 12. This welcome influx of new students often proves invaluable in the generation of a new dynamic and the bringing of different skills and talents. The size of the Sixth Form strikes an excellent balance between being large enough to offer a wide variety of A-Level courses whilst retaining the close relationships and exceptional individual support that are so valued by students, teachers and parents alike.
We achieve outstanding academic standards within a non-pressured environment, combining the security and advantages of school life with increasing freedom and self-reliance. We want students to leave KAS as independent young adults who are confident in their achievements and in the direction they will follow.
We are a relaxed and vibrant community that tries hard to help young people deal with the increasing academic demands placed upon them, without losing the sense of what makes them special. The King Alfred sixth form experience is different from most others on offer and you are most welcome to visit to find out how.
