King Alfred School offers AS and A2 courses; the only vocational course we offer is in Child Development. Our Sixth Form numbers between seventy five and ninety students with approximately 25% joining KAS from other schools directly into Year 12. We welcome this. New students joining us give a new dynamic and bring new skills and talents. The size of the Sixth Form strikes a balance between being big enough to offer a variety of A-Level courses whilst retaining the close relationships and exceptional individual support that is so valued by students, teachers and parents alike. The transition from GCSE to A-Level requires a different style of teaching and studying. We continue to encourage students to develop the ability to work independently.

Option Blocks for Year 12. Students usually select 3 or 4 subjects. These option blocks are fixed. Students should only select one subject from each block.
We try to accommodate students in their choice of subjects however, some combinations may not be possible due to timetabling restrictions.
